Atopic dermatitis in dogs and cats develops predominantly from environmental allergens, such as house dust mites and pollens of grasses, trees and weeds.

In a chronic presentation, the skin changes need to be treated, in order to control the clinical signs and prevent flares of atopic disease as far as possible. It is important to mention that both forms of treatment are complementary and not exclusive.
